This year I decided to try Bikram Yoga. In order to ensure this style of activity was appropriate for my age, weight, medical problems-all I really knew about Bikram Yoga was that it was practiced in a hot room. I tested the waters on Tuesday Dec. 30 2008. After the first 90 minute class, that seemed much longer, I felt like I had accomplished a minor victory and did indeed feel great, AFTER the class, like the instructor had claimed we would. I went the next day and I guess I was hooked. I did miss New Years Day and a few other days due to car trouble, a fall on the Buffalo ice and securing the funds to resume the practice but as of today, Jan. 25, 2009 I have participated in 16 classes, eight in the last eight days. Today’s class flew by and the class is my favorite 90 minutes of the day. I feel great, I have not lost any weight but my clothing is loose. In my legs and arms there is improved muscle definition and the winter cellulite is vanishing like it is summer. In other Yoga I have tried my own lack of meditative practice, busy brain racing nature, and desire to "work out" has been an issue. This is a real work out for your body and your brain. The instructors at the Bikram Buffalo are artisans in body sculpture, every member of the class is a different work of art, in a nice warm gallery. If you have always wanted to try this style of Yoga I would strongly recommend you drink several waters and head to the Bikram studio on Elmwood Ave and check it out.
- Moira

Testimonial

I have Celiac Disease which pretty much means that for years (before I was diagnosed) the food I was eating regularly was breaking down my intestines causing disruption of the absorption of nutrients in my small intestine. Essentially I was eating food and not being nourished by it while at the same time damaging my intestines further. It caused a variety of physical and psychological issues for me. I had constant pain, bloating, cravings I could not identify (I felt like there was a communication gap between my mind and my body.) Now only 7 classes in, I can clearly feel what my body needs when I get hungry and I know it is because the postures are allowing my body to finally heal the hidden intestinal damage. It has been a struggle, but I can feel my body healing finally. I have more energy and eat way less. For the 1st time in a very long time I can feel what my body is saying and am able to give it what it needs. It is nothing short of a miracle. If I could thank Bikram personally, I would with all my heart.

-Tina Marie

Testimonial

I have been practicing Bikram for several years between injuries. I had shoulder reconstruction surgery in December 2006. I find the wonderful combination of balance, strengthening, realignment, and flexibility is the formula for greatly improved heath vigor and fun. Within a few weeks of starting my blood pressure went down 10 points both reading. My posture alignment has greatly improved from lean forward from computers, driving and being on the phone. After my surgery the previous constant pain in both my shoulders is much better and I can sleep all night without waking to ice the pain. I really enjoyed meet Bikram in Toronto! He is fun, practical, and a great combination of boundless knowledge of science, health, and spirituality.
-Kathy O’Donnell

Kathy is amazing! Since she wrote this testimonial she has completed a 100 day challenge and maintains a regular practice. She is a pillar of strength and endurance. Every class I have the opportunity to practice with her I am amazed by her force in the room. Her body has completely transformed and she has energy to share with all those around her.
